Its library of content covers math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. To date, Khan Academy has delivered over 580 million lessons. It has over 26 million registered students, who have completed over 3.8 billion practice problems – about 4 million per day.
Professor Sugata Mitra. Professor of Educational Technology /Director of the interdisciplinary research centre, SOLE Central, University of Newcastle. He was given the $1m TED Prize in 2013 in recognition of his work and to help build a School in the Cloud, a creative online space where children from all over the world can gather to answer ‘big questions’, share knowledge and benefit from help and guidance from online educators. The School in the Cloud brings together Self Organised Learning Environments (SOLEs) to link in with the Granny Cloud, originally set up in 2009 following an appeal for retired teachers willing to offer a few hours a week to help teach English to Indian schoolchildren. This mentoring and encouraging role is still a vital part of the success of this educational approach today.

Ryan Meade is a Consultant at Civica, a provider of ICT solutions, software and services to schools, academies, free schools, colleges, multi academy trusts and local authorities. Ryan has 12 years’ experience in the Education sector, having previously worked at Capita before joining Civica in 2014. Ryan’s experience includes working with Local Authorities to deliver projects to improve efficiency and provide cost savings; and with schools, academies and Multi Academy Trusts to manage the transition from complex systems such as Management Information Systems. Today, Ryan works within a team which provides education software to over 6,000 schools, academies and colleges to help improve teaching, learning and administration. Martin Baker is Senior Account Manager for Multi Academy Trusts at Civica. Martin has 20 years’ experience in the sector, having previously worked at Capita and the Guardian before joining Civica in 2014. Today, Martin works within a team which provides dedicated support to approximately 50 Multi Academy Trusts, helping them to improve teaching, learning and administration.
Barnaby Lenon addresses how schools can achieve outstanding results whilst reaching full business potential Barnaby Lenon is Chairman of the Independent Schools Council. He was educated at Eltham College and Oxford University. He taught at Sherborne School, Eton for 12 years, was deputy head of Highgate School, head master of Trinity School Croydon and head of Harrow (12 years). He has been a governor of nine schools. He is chairman of governors of the London Academy of Excellence, a free school which opened in 2012 in Newham, east London. He is chairman of the Independent Schools Council, a member of the Oxfordshire County Council Education Advisory Committee, a trustee of the Yellow Submarine charity, and a board member of Ofqual and the New Schools Network.

En el marco del segundo día de actividades de Bett Latin America 2017, el comité internacional de Bett informó que entragará a las autoridades de la Secretaría de Educación Pública Federal, una unidad móvil educativa “Aulabox” y la donación de paquetes de útiles escolares, a fin de apoyar la educación de las comunidades afectadas por los terremotos en México. Con esta iniciativa, Bett apoyará el reestableceimiento de clases, a modo de dar continuidad al aprendizaje de los estudiantes. “Aulabox” es una iniciativa impulsada por UNETE, -asociación civil enfocada en mejorar la calidad y la equidad de la educación en México a través del uso de la tecnología-, que consiste en la instalación de contenedores de carga, adaptados como aulas de clase y equipados con computadoras, software ducativo, internet y servicios de impresión. “La instalación de un Aula Box tendrá como objetivos principales restabler la educación formal, reintegrar a los alumnos, rehabilitar o reconstruir escuelas, continuar con el programa de estudio y reincorporar y capacitar a los docentes”, señaló Grania Chesterton, Directora de Bett Latin America 2017. Asimismo, Bett informó que, en conjunto con Suma por la Educación y las donaciones recibidas por parte de los participantes en el Centro de Acopio instalado en la Expo, al momento se han recaudado más de mil artículos escolares con los que se elaborarán paquetes que serán entregados en las zonas más afectadas.

As part of the second day of activities of Bett Latin America 2017, Bett’s international committee reported that it will provide the authorities of the Federal Public Education Secretariat with an educational mobile unit “Aulabox” and the donation of school supplies to support the education of communities affected by earthquakes in Mexico. With this initiative, Bett will support the reestablishment of classes, in order to give continuity to student learning. “Aulabox” is an initiative promoted by UNETE, a civil society focused on improving the quality and equity of education in Mexico through the use of technology, which consists of the installation of cargo containers adapted as classrooms and equipped with computers, educative software, internet and print services. “The main purpose of the Aula Box will be to restore formal education, reintegrate students, rehabilitate or rebuild schools, continue the curriculum and reintegrate and train teachers,” said Grania Chesterton, Director of Bett Latin America 2017. Likewise, Bett reported that, in conjunction with Suma for Education and the donations received by the participants in the Collection Center installed at the Expo, more than a thousand school items have now been collected with which packages will be produced and delivered in the most affected areas.
